How To Drink More Water For Hydration
The importance of staying hydrated cannot be stressed enough. Drinking enough fluids – especially water – helps our bodies perform a multitude of functions. Most import of all, proper hydration keeps our organs functioning at maximum capacity.
Replenishing fluids all throughout the day is crucially important when wanting to maintain a clean bill of health. According to a recent study, the average person loses anywhere between 10 and 15 cups of water a day. This by no means implies that we should be drinking 10 or more cups of water every day. Drinking too much water can potentially flush important salts and minerals from our bodies, leaving our bodies even worse off than before.
It is however important to drink at least 4 – 6 glasses of water throughout the course of every day. Here’s how.
Make It Easier To Swallow
Adding a dash of natural fruit juice to water can make drinking the recommended daily quota a great deal easier to manage. Investing in a simple hand juicer will make squeezing juice from lemons, oranges, limes, etc., a whole lot easier than trying to coax the juice from the fruits using only your hands and brute force.
Track Your Consumption
Tracking your daily water consumption serves a dual purpose. Not only does proper record-keeping ensure sufficient ingestion, but it also motivates us by helping us measure progress.
There are some awesome water-consumption tracker apps available for both iOS and Android – many of them free. Many of these apps will even send you regular reminders to rehydrate all throughout the day.
Ease Into The Habit
It is better to ease yourself into the habit of increasing your daily water intake than to suddenly introduce drastically increased volumes into your daily diet.
Drinking too much water too quickly will cause your body to react by becoming bloated, which will in turn cause you to become demotivated. Starting slowly by gradually increasing your daily intake is best.
Those not in the habit of drinking water every day should start by drinking as little as a single glass daily. This will make becoming sufficiently hydrated a much more effortless transition.
Make Water Your Companion
A really helpful hint when looking to increase your overall water intake is keeping a glass of water at hand whenever possible. This can include when preparing lunch, cooking dinner, or even when watching a series or searching for something on the internet.
Taking regular sips of water becomes hassle-free when water is readily available and at hand. Be sure to keep your glass of water at arm’s length so as to avoid any knock-over mishaps.
Rewards For Good Behaviour
Motivate yourself by promising by allowing yourself a reward whenever you happen to hit your water-drinking target.
Rewards can come in many shapes and forms, including a weekly sweet treat allowance, when youregisterfor an account for fun games, a shopping trip, or even a day at the spa. Any action worth the effort and time spent on becoming healthy is an action deserving of a special reward.
